After living in Japan, get used to it pretty quick. Looks inefficient but total opposite, trains come every couple of minutes at peak hour and end up at their destinations ON TIME 99% of the time. Big reason for the “Pushers” is that people are polite and don’t want to invade other passengers space unless have too (which the do), if got a shot through the window at the middle, would have seen space for 2 or 3 people at least. Also the positive of living in such a crowded place generally is that most things are close. Vast majority of people are polite and follow unspoken rules and service is excellent. Missed family and friends when was there but great place to live. Excellent health care, food was good too. 8
